I’ve been fascinated by all things natural for my entire life and believe all human beings are to be stewards of the rich abundance of God’s good creation.
I believe we are authorized to exercise godly dominion in using it for the sake of human welfare and needs, for example in farming, fishing, mining, energy generation, engineering, construction, trade, medicine. However, as we do so, we are also commanded to care for the earth and all its creatures, because the earth belongs to God, not to us. We do this for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ who is the creator, owner, sustainer, redeemer and heir of all creation.
Far from being an activist, I believe we need to mesh our human systems with ecological systems at a grassroots level. Producers and marketers will not be coerced into providing environmentally friendly products unless we as consumers demand them. I believe ecology makes sense for free market, consumers and all of creation, and that in the end brings glory to God our creator.
Aside from blogging, I’m an Indiana Master Naturalist and volunteer with a number of organizations including Little River Wetlands Project, Merry Lea Nature Conservancy and Acres Land Trust. Finally, I love paddling a canoe.
